Subang Jaya, 28 June 2015 (Sunday). With the aim of giving the forsaken Rohingya kids a Hari Raya shopping treat, 9 Yayasan Cemerlang scholars enthusiastically participated in the "Raya Shopping with 170 Rohingya Kids" event recently. The scholars are Wan Nur Shazira, Chua Jia Xing, Muhammad Fakhri, Ng Chee Wei, Hazreena, Raszlen, Siti Syakireen, Ong Yee Mun and Nurul Hidayah.

The event was co-organised by UNIRAZAK, B & A Backbone and The Love Bags which managed to raise a total of RM32,000, the bulk of which was derived from Noah Foundation.

The Rohingya kids were from Madrasah Anak-anak Yatim and Tahfiz Quran Hashimiah, an Islamic school for orphans and Tahfiz Quran which is located in Selayang, Batu Caves and under the purview of Ustaz Al-Hafiz Hashim Kassim.

Apart from 74 students from UNIRAZAK, included were also 58 students from Sunway University and public volunteers. Equipped with a sum of RM200.00 per child, volunteers disbursed with thei

r assigned Rohingya child to select his or her Raya attire at Mydin Mall, Subang Jaya.

By the end of their shopping spree, the lucky kids were able to not only purchase their Raya attire but also other miscellaneous items which included dolls, clothes, sports accessories and food items.
