Strength, blended with an innate sense of grace, best describes Tun (Dr.) Hajjah Rahah Binti Tan Sri Mohd Noah, one of the Malaysia’s most distinguished citizens.
Tun (Dr.) Hajjah Rahah was recently conferred an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy (Education) from Universiti Utara Malaysia in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the development of education at all levels, as well as her extensive involvement in social and philanthropic activities. Needless to say, this award is only one of many which she has received over the years.
Thrust into the spotlight as the First Lady of Malaysia from 1970 to 1976, Tun (Dr.) HajjahRahah carried out affairs of State and entertained visiting dignitaries as seemingly effortlessly as she raised her five sons to achieve success in their chosen fields. To this day, that same sense of purpose and graciousness is evident in her numerous initiatives related to nation building as well as improving the lives of ordinary Malaysians. Indeed, she readily agrees that amongst the initiatives she holds close to her heart is equitable access to quality education.
As such, she has kindly consented to the establishment of the TunRahah Scholarship Fund, an education sponsorship fund that aims to help high achieving, as well as deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds to achieve their full potential in line with Vision 2020.
